A concurrent resolution greeting Israel on its 10th anniversary and requesting President Eisenhower to name a United States delegation to Israel to represent this country at the ceremonies marking the anniversary, was introduced in both Houses of Congress. The resolution was presented in the Senate by Sen. Jacob K. Javits, Republican. In the House of Representatives it was offered by Rep-Emanuel Celler, Democrat.
Little likelihood is seen here that the United States will grant Congressional requests for issuance of a special commemorative postage stamp honoring Israel’s tenth anniversary. State Department officials are reported opposed to such a stamp on grounds that certain Arab states would find it offensive and might refuse to deliver U.S mail bearing such stamps.
