Resolutions calling on President Kennedy to issue a proclamation setting May 1, 1962 as a day of commemoration for the victims of the Warsaw Ghetto were introduced in the House and Senate today. The measures were sponsored by Democratic Congressman Emanuel Celler of New York and New York Republican Senator Kenneth Keating.

Both men had been visited earlier by officers of the Jewish Nazi Victims Organization of America who had asked their support for the proclamation. The date on the Hebrew calendar is the 27th day of Nissan which world Jewry has agreed to be the commemorative date for the event.
