Congress has turned down the State Department request for spending approximately $3,500,000 in U.S. funds now deposited in Israel for scientific and cultural projects in the Jewish State.
The request was originally submitted by Bernard Katzen, consultant on the use of local currencies acquired by the United States in Israel under the information media guarantee program. It would have benefited more than 40 Israeli institutions.
