Rep. Sol Bloom, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and Rep. James Wright of Pennsylvania appeared before the House Rules Committee today to plead for a rule in order to get the Palestine resolution considered on the floor of the House. The Rules Committee postponed action until tomorrow.

Bloom, whose committee last Wednesday reported out the bill, asked the Rules Committee to give Congress a chance to offer “a ray of hope to millions of persecuted Jews to whom Palestine stands as the last possible hope of refuge.” Rep. Wright, cosponsor of the bill, summarized the United States’s legal and moral right to intervene.
