Speaker of the House of Representatives John W McCormack, Massachusetts Democrat and former speaker Joseph W. Martin, Jr., Massachusetts Republican were honored here for “consistent effort in fostering understanding between the peoples of the U.S. and the State of Israel” through a joint award of the 1966 America-Israel Friendship Award.

In a brief ceremony held in the Speaker’s room of the House of Representatives, Mrs. Eli Resnikoff, national president of the Mizrachi Women’s Organization of America cited the two veteran legislative leaders as “friends of Israel before there was an Israel, and distinguished proponents always of the biblical ideals of social justice, brotherhood and peace.”
