Congressman Pays Tribute to Charleston Jewish Community on Its 200th Anniversary

Tribute was paid to the Jewish Community of Charleston, S.C., on the occasion of its 200th anniversary, in a speech in the House of Representatives by Rep. L. Mendel Rivers of South Carolina.

Rep. Rivers said: “The Jewish Community of Charleston is celebrating its 200th anniversary. This is no accident. The Jewish Community of this fine city is one of which we are all proud. From its very beginning it has become an integral and indepensable segment of our entire community life.”
