Three replies favoring official action by the United States against the German government for persecuting Jews and one non-committal answer were received today

by the Jewish Telegraphic Agency in its mail poll of senators and representatives, bringing the total thus far to 17-5 for action.

Rep. A. J. Sabath (Ill.) declared he was “not willing to anticipate future decisions by presenting any views prematurely.”

Those expressing themselves for U. S. action are: Rep. Virginia E. Jenckes (Ind.), Usher L. Burdick (N.D.) and James M. Mead (N. Y.).

Mrs. Jenckes in her answer, declared she is “sounding the alarm to the members of Congress. The people of the United States are alarmed that the same influences which allowed the German government to become such an inhuman agency may develop in this country.”
