Both New York Senators and a bipartisan group of twenty-one out of twenty-four members of the House from the five New York boroughs and Nassau County have endorsed an American Jewish Congress call for revision of U.S. policy in the Middle East, it was reported today.
The American Jewish Congress statement criticized “continued accommodation to Arab intransigence” and urged that American policy in the Middle East be “re-directed” to achieve the following four main goals:
1) Initiation of direct Arab-Israel peace talks; 2) the ending of Arab economic boycotts and blockades against Israel; 3) promotion of regional water, power and other projects “for the common benefit of all countries” in the Middle East; and 4) the achieving of a permanent solution to the problem of the Arab refugees.
