Members of New York City’s Congressional delegation appealed to President Kennedy today in separate telegrams to intervene against an expected United Nations Security Council resolution censuring Israel for its role in the recent Syrian border clash.

The appeal, organized by Democratic Congressman Emanuel Celler, got immediate responses from Democrats Leonard Farbstein, Victor Anfuso, Edna Kelly and Hugh Varey and Republican Seymour Halpern. Other members were also expected to respond and send their own telegrams of appeal to the White House. The only member contacted who indicated an unwillingness to go along was Brooklyn Democrat Eugene Keogh. The Brooklyn lawmaker was unavailable for comment as to the reasons for his refusal.
