A special appeal in behalf of three Connecticut synagogues that were badly damaged in the recent floods is being conducted throughout the state, Louis Feinmark, president of the Connecticut Jewish Community Relations Council disclosed today. A substantial sum has already been collected, but-much more is needed, he said.
The Council, which has representation from Jewish communities in 13 cities as well as nine state-wide Jewish organizations, is coordinating efforts in behalf of flood-ravaged synagogues in Winsted, Putnam, and Ansonia. Mr. Feinmark pointed out that the synagogues in Winsted and Putnam were particularly hard hit by both the August 19 and October 15 floods. The situation has been made worse by the fact that many of the synagogue members also suffered heavy personal losses in the flood.
