Conservative Member of Parliament Hugh Frazer said yesterday that he would re-open debate on Britain’s proposed sale of Chieftain tanks to Libya as Laborite MP Reginald Paget did not succeed in his quest to have the sale debated. Mr. Frazer said that Chieftains sold to Libya could easily be turned over to Egypt or Nigeria to be used against Biafra. He said also that Israel had found a way to remedy a small defect in the Chieftain. Two sample tanks were delivered to Israel last year, but the British Defense Ministry has refused to accept a cash order of $144 million worth of the Chieftains on the grounds that it would interfere with Four Power talks.
