The members of the Consistoire of Bulgarian Jews which represents Bulgarian Jewry in its relations with the government and Jewish organizations abroad, resigned today because of its failure to get the government to adopt its point of view with regard to support for Jewish schools. The Consistoire had complained because the Jewish schools in the towns and cities were not receiving maintenance equal to the Bulgarian schools.
To discuss the situation the Consistoire has called a conference of the Jewish communities throughout the country to meet November 1. The conference will also take up the matter of electing a new Consistoire and the problem of Jewish teaching.
