Construction of a new settlement in Israel for 100 blind immigrants and their families is now under way, Henry Morgenthau Jr., general chairman of the United Jewish Appeal, revealed during the week-end. Plans call for the new arrivals in the Jewish state to become self-supporting within three months. Mr. Morgenthau said that American Jews had paid for the cost of the project, $125,000, which includes provision of $85 monthly for each family in the colony during the initial rehabilitation period. The settlement is located at Gedera.
