Israel Consul General Simcha Pratt was honored at a fare well dinner at the Hotel Commodore here in tribute to his outstanding diplomatic achievements in behalf of Israel and in recognition of the close personal ties that he established with the American Jewish Community. Mr. Pratt is returning to Jerusalem where he will occupy an important post in Israel’s Foreign Ministry.
The dinner was arranged by the Farband division of the Jewish National Fund, which presented Mr. Pratt with a certificate for 1,000 trees that will be planted by the Farband in his name in Israel. In accepting the certificate. Mr. Pratt pointed out the important accomplishments of the Farband in behalf of Israel in general and the Jewish National Fund in particular. He also emphasized the broad acceptance that Israel has received by the American public and the constantly growing awareness on the part of Americans in all walks of life of Israel’s great economic and social achievements and her sincere desire to live in peace with her Arab neighbors.
Louis Segal, general secretary of the Farband and member of the executive of the Jewish Agency, announced that in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Farband. which will be celebrated in 1963, the organization will establish a settlement in Israel through the Jewish National Fund.
