An eight-month controversy over kosher ritual slaughtering of cattle in the city of Sheffield ended this week when the city corporation accepted the “Weinberg casting pen” for use in ritual slaughtering.
The Jews of Sheffield have not had any locally-processed kosher meat since January 1 when the “Weinberg casting pen” became standard for all of Britain. At that time the city corporation refused to permit the use of the Weinberg instrument.
