Parent Teacher Associations in all-day Hebrew schools were urged today “to prepare a program of orientation for parents which will emphasize the profound religious significance of Bar Mitzvah rather than its social aspects.”

The proposal was contained in a resolution adopted at the closing session of the 14th annual convention of the National Association of Hebrew Day School PTA’s. The 400 delegates condemned “the increasingly social emphasis which characterizes so many Bar Mitzvah ceremonies today.”
