Current trends in American Jewish aid to Israel were analyzed here today at the 54th annual meeting of the National Conference of Jewish Communal Workers by Harold Glasser, director of the Institute of Overseas Studies of the Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds. The four-day meeting is attended by Jewish social workers from more than 300 communities.
Mr. Glasser urged the social workers to make a contribution in technical assistance to Israel by showing the Jewish State how to do what it wants done rather than to tell the Israelis what they should want to be done. He also suggested that Israel should be encouraged by American Jewish leaders in the work of strengthening its government departments for the purpose of coordinating the activities of voluntary organizations. William Avrunin, associate, director of the Jewish Welfare Federation of Detroit, delivered the keynote address at the opening session.
