The convention of Kibbutz Hameuchad, the system of collective settlements sponsored by the Achdut Haavoda movement, concluded here today with a resolution calling on the Soviet Union “to demonstrate its understanding for the peculiar position of the Jewish minority,” and to enable Soviet Jews to emigrate to Israel if they wish to.
The convention decided to establish Israel’s first kibbutz on the shore of the Red Sea in the Eilat area. The delegates called on the Government and the Ministry of Agriculture to ensure the development and broadening of the Kibbutz movement by supplying it with water and land as well as with adequate financial aid.
