The first convention of Texas rabbis will be opened here on Monday. Rabbi Abraham Schechter, rabbi of Congregation Adath Yeshurun, Houston, will preside at the opening session. The convention will last two days.
BREVITIES
Senator Abraham Greenberg, New York City Democrat representing the 17th Senatorial District, will retain his seat at least until the next session of the Legislature in 1928. This decision was announced by Senator H. D. Williams, Republican, of Utica, chairman of the Committee on Elections and Privileges, which conducted the hearings of the recent Nicoll-Greenberg Senatorial contest.
Dr. Edward Sapir, Professor of Anthropology and American Indian Languages at the University of Chicago, addressed the sixth annual meeting of the Central section of the American Anthropological Association at Julius Rosenwald Hall, University of Chicago, on Friday. His subject was “Grebo”, a West African Language”. Morris Bernstein, also of the University of Chicago, read a paper on “Recent Investigations on Hair.”
