Seven orthodox Jews were convicted and five acquitted following the conclusion here of a two-day trial in which the defendants were accused of disorderly conduct in stopping gautomobiles on the streets of Tel Aviv because the drivers were violating the Sabbath.
Five of the defendants were given the alternative of fines of ten pounds ($ 50) or imprisonment for two months; two, five pounds, or one month’s imprisonment, and five were bound over on good behavior for six months.
