The last four of a group of convicted terrorists responsible for attacks on the Soviet and Czech legations and for attacking non-kosher butcher shops will be released from prison tomorrow in an Independence Day amnesty by order of Defense Minister David Ben Gurion, it was announced here today. The others were released earlier by former Defense Minister Pinchas Lavon.
The entire group was convicted by Israel’s highest military tribunal on charges of organizing an illegal underground organization which menaced the state. Released tomorrow will be Jacob Heruti, the leader of the gang, who was sentenced to 10 years; Shimon Bechar, who escaped during the trial and was sentenced to 12 years, but was captured three months later; Yecheskel Mizrachi, who drew a four-year sentence, and Jacob Blumenthal, who was under a five-year sentence.
