In the Jewish Daily Bulletin of October 20th, a headline on a New Haven story erroneously stated “First Jew Named to Yale University Faculty.” The headline should have referred to an appointment on the faculty of Yale College. There are a number of distinguished Jews on the faculty of Yale University, notably Lafayette B. Mendel, professor of chemistry for many years; Dr. Winternitz, dean of the Medical School; Professor Schlesinger of the department of astronomy. The late Dr. Sigismund Waterman, related to Mrs. Stephen S. Wise, was at one time a member of the German Department.
