Israel’s inflation rate is both higher and lower, according to figures released by the Central Bureau of Statistics.
It ran at an annual rate of 17 percent during the first three months of 1988, well above the 12 percent targeted by the Treasury. The March hike was 1.6 percent, also higher than anticipated.
The good news is inflation was down in the 1987-88 fiscal year, which ended in March. It stood at 15.7 percent, down from 23 percent.
