Despite the fact that his qualifications for an engineering job on Work Relief exceeds those of many others who obtained work, Peter Sharney, 419 West 129th street, winner of an architectural prize for designing the finest synagogue in Tel Aviv, found it impossible to get a relief job, according to testimony yesterday before the Aldermanic Committee investigating the City’s relief administration.
Mr. Sharney, Russian born, but a citizen of the United States for the past six years, and a practising architect of twenty-eight years experience, was subpoenaed by Lloyd Paul Stryker, Inquiry Committee Counsel, and yesterday told of his application for one of more than 100 engineering positions offered to relief workers of adequate experience in the Park Department.
