A National Council for the Rescue of Egyptian Jews has been established in Israel, in view of the grave situation of Egyptian Jewry, the World Jewish Congress announced today.
The Congress said that representatives of the council met with the WJC executive in Israel and urged that the Congress participate in an international campaign aimed at crystallizing support among Jews and non-Jews throughout the world to help Egyptian Jews.
The Council was reported to have made available to the Congress information to the effect that former Nazi officers now advising the military regime in Egypt were organizing a methodical campaign aimed at the physical and spiritual annihilation of Egyptian Jewry.
