The National Council of Jewish Women today presented a special “peace award” to Andrew W. Cordier, UN Undersecretary for General Assembly affairs, who was the top executive assistant to the late Secretary-General Dag Hammarskjold. The award took the form of a Chanukah Menorah, designed by Ludwig Wolpert, of the Jewish Museum.
Mrs. Joseph Willen, vice-president of the National Council of Jewish Women, presented the award, citing Mr. Cordier as the personification “of all dedicated men and women who have served the United Nations for the achievement of peace and a life of dignity for mankind.”
