The district court today confirmed the conviction of the fourteen Revisionists arrested for having participated in the illegal demonstration in Tel Aviv on December 12. The sentences of some of the convicted Revisionists were reduced by the court.
The demonstration in Tel Aviv, which resulted in a pitched battle between police and the rioters grew out of a protest against the immigration policy of the Palestine government organized by the B’r i t h Trumpeldor, Revisionist youth organization. (Following the protest meeting, the Revisionists carrying a Zionist flag, marched through the streets of Tel Aviv. When they were ordered to disperse by the police they refused. A fight followed in which many of the pedestrians joined. When they were convicted later and sentenced, the Trumpeldorites marched to jail singing the Hatikvah, Jewish national anthem.
