The indictment against Captain Robert Rosenbluth, charging him with the murder of Major Alexander P/Cronkhite at Camp Lewis in 1918, which threatened to become another Dreyfus affair, was finally dismissed today in the United States District Court here.

The charge against Capt. Rosenbluth was based on a “confession” of Roland R.Potnier that he killed Major Cronkhite at Capt. Rosenbluth’s orders. In his other stories Pothier stated that the Major committed suicide. In another version, Bothier claimed that Capt. Rosenbluth shot Major Cronkhite and again, Pothier stated that he did not see who shot Major Cronkhite.

Legal proceedings, which lasted for over 4 years, came to a conclusion today when Judge Edward E. Cushman, on the motion of James W. Osborne, Special Prosecutor for the Government, dismissed the case against Captain Rosenbluth.

The dismissal of the murder charge against Capt. Rosenbluth was indicated as soon as Pothier was acquitted last Saturday. It was Pothier’s “confession” that led to the charge against Rosenbluth.
