A Polish river steamer captain was sentenced today to a year in prison for having refused to rescue a drowning Jew.
The Court of Appeals set aside a previous verdict by a lower court of six months for the indicted man, Captain Kostecki, who had declared that a Jew was “not worth saving.”
Another Jew rescued Chaim Seidel, the almost victim.
