The Supreme Court heard the appeal lodged by the Attorney General against the judgment of the District Court of Jaffa in the case of the shopkeeper Altschuller of Tel Aviv who had been fined for keeping his shop open on the Sabbath.
The Attorney General argued that the observance of the Sabbath in a purely Jewish area should be made legally binding on all Jews in that area.
Judgment was reserved.
