A Tel Aviv district court is to decide whether there is a legal basis to warrant the extradition of French-Jewish financier Claude Lipsky who sought asylum in Israel last fall, Justice Minister Yaacov Shimshon Shapiro signed an order several days ago instructing States Attorney Meir Shamgar to institute court proceedings. The court has indicated that it would give the case priority. The hearings, and a possible appeal, are expected to last several months.
