Colonial Secretary Arthur Creech-Jones today rejected a demand by Richard Stokes, Labor, that the Jewish Agency be suppressed because it advocates the use of force to further illegal immigration into Palestine.
Creech-Jones expressed regret at the passage last month of a resolution by the Jewish National Assembly, which warned that force would be used, if necessary, to guarantee Jewish immigration and land settlement, but told Commons that the situation did not warrant action against the Agency, which, he stressed, had a special position under the Mandate. Stokes charged that several members of the Agency were involved in the blasting of British administrative headquarters in the King David Hotel last Summer.
