Cremation Case Brought to Highest Polish Court

The question of whether or not a Jewish cremated body can be refused burial in a Jewish cemetery will be brought before the highest court in Poland, the family of the Polish Jewish merchant, Wiesel, decided.

Following the refusal of the Warsaw rabbinate to permit proper burial in the family plot, the relatives of the late merchant decided to complain to the administrative tribunal against the decision of the rabbinate. The ashes of the late merchant will be taken to Danzig to be held in the crematorium until the case will be decided.
