Sharp criticism of the Secretariat of the League of Nations for yielding to Nazi pressure in transferring Egon Wertheimer, the Socialist German Jew, from the department of information to the treasury department, was made in the Journal de Geneve, a Democratic political and literary journal. The journal pointed out that the only thing that prevented the complete dismissal of Wertheimer was the fact that his three-year contract has not yet expired.
The Secretariat should have insisted on its right to select officials independent of interference from any government, the Journal declares.
