Croatia’s president visited the Jewish community’s headquarters in Zagreb, becoming the nation’s first head of state to do so since Emperor Franz Joseph visited in 1895. President Stipe Mesic toured a Judaica exhibition and met with community leaders during the recent visit. Local Jewish officials were outraged that Croatian Television, which had a camera crew on hand, never aired news of the visit.
