Desiring to make certain that a little girl whose mother died when the child was only an infant, would arrive safely in America to join her father, Jacques Pierrot, treasurer of the Montefiore Home for Immigrants, in Rotterdam, and one of the most prominent Duch Jews, has arrived in New York with his little charge. Mrs. Pierrot also accompanied her husband.
Upon the death of the girl’s mother, Herr Pierrot took the child in his charge and made an offer to her father who is in America to adopt the child and give her $40,000 when she became of age. The father, who has since remarried, refused to part with the child.
