In an article in the New York Herald-Tribune yesterday, former Crown Prince Wilhelm, who fled so ignominously from Germany at the first hint of trouble, declares that Germany is faced by hostile world opinion just as she was during the World War. He attributes this to fear of the new Germany by the other powers of the world. He sees the Marxists and the Jews in the forefront of the agitation against Germany, but predicts that under the leadership of Hitler, “the nation will firmly unite itself within this movement (National Socialism) which is marching so irresistibly and victoriously to its goal.” However, the erstwhile heir to the throne neglected to say what the goal is.
After repeating the customary phrases about Hitler’s “saving” Germany from Bolshevism and the usual declaration of the “bloodlessness” of the Nazi revolution, the Crown Prince joins with other Nazi apologists in regretting that innocent have suffered with the guilty.
Says the Crown Prince: “There is a campaign of calumny in order to prevent the German nation, now conscious of its race, from regaining the place which belongs to it by rights.
“As a result of the insidious propaganda of these international forces, among which Marxism and Jewry must be named as leading factors, foreign countries are getting a picture of present conditions in Germany which in no way corresponds to the facts.”
