The suspension of tourist visas to persons residing in European countries, has been announced by the Cuban Department of Immigration. The suspension order has been issued for an indefinite period, the Cuban office of the Hebrew Sheltering and Immigrant Aid Society, which operates as the Centro Israelita de Cuba, was informed by the Cuban Government.
The order also affects the procedure hitherto followed with regard to the issuance of transit visas. Henceforth, the Cuban authorities will grant transit permits to immigrants en route to other countries only in eases where the State Department of the country of destination will certify the validity of the immigration permit in the immigrant’s possession.
