Stimulation of the spirit of racial, religious and social understanding through actual experiences is the most effective way of improving human relations, Siste Mary de Lourdes of St. Joseph Colleg, West Hartford Conn., today told the women’s section of the Williamstown Institute of Human Relations. President Mildred H. McAfee of Wellesley College declared: “We can cultivate a spirit of tolerances in very young children by surrounding them with tolerant adults and placing a premium of social approval on their cultivation of that attitude. Dr. F. Ernest Johnson, secretary of the Department of Research and Education of the Federal Council of Churches of Christ in America, addressing several hundred person at a general meeting of the institute, suggested that public education include among its aims the equipment of boys and girls, youths and adults, for participation in the religious life of the community.”
