Several hundred persons prominent in political, literary and social circles last night attended a testimonial dinner at the Plaza Hotel, Fifth avenue and Fifty-ninth street, in honor of Thomas Mann, recently arrived self-exiled German author.
Among those scheduled to speak at the function were Mann himself, John Erskine and Dean Christian Gauss of Princeton. Henry Seidel Canby, editor of the Saturday Review of Literature, was chairman of the committee on arrangements.
