Paul Ben-Haim, Israel composer now in the United States, has been commissioned by the America-Israel Cultural Foundation to compose a violin concerto for the Israel violinist Zvi Zeitlin. The commission has been made possible by a gift of $1,500 from Mrs. Lionello Perera, a musical patron. Mr. Ben-Haim came to this country for the American premiere by Leonard Bernstein and the New York Philharmonic of his symphony, “The Sweet Psalmist of Israel.”
