The night curfew in the Old City section of Jerusalem was eased today by an order of the Israeli authorities. The ban on civilian movements will now be in effect only from Midnight to 4 A.M. The previous curfew was in effect at 9 P.M.
The new rule was put into effect primarily to aid tourists who have been overcrowding the hotels in the New City of Jerusalem but staying out of the hostelries in the Old City because they were not allowed to leave them after 9 o’clock in the evening. However, the curfew from 9 P.M. to 4 A.M. remains in effect in other towns on the West Bank of the Jordan River.
