While sporadic disorders continued in other parts of Palestine, the authorities today lifted a ten-hour curfew imposed here Tuesday following Arab-Jewish clashes which resulted in four deaths.
A British constable and two Arabs were killed in a clash today between several policemen and a terrorist band surprised in the act of mining a road on the outskirts of Ramat Hakovech, between Jaffa and Tulkarem. The terrorists greeted the police with a volley of rifle fire, killing the constable. A Jewish constable returned the fire, wounding three of the band, two fatally. Police reinforcements attacked the Arabs on all sides, wounding seven, capturing seven and seizing a thousand rounds of ammunition. Only a few of the rebels escaped, according to the Havas News Agency.
Arab villagers of Sanur, near Jenin, overwhelmed an attacking Arab band, wounding three terrorists and capturing five others whom they turned over to British troops. Arab snipers slightly wounded Jacob Lans, watchman of the Beth Alpha colony. Colonists returned the fire, reportedly inflicting several casualties.
The Palestine Partition Commission, meanwhile, continued in camera sessions, hearing testimony for the second day by Dr. Chaim Weizmann and other officials of the Jewish Agency for Palestine.
Five Revisionists, detained in connection with the Jerusalem disorders Tuesday, are on a hunger strike.
