The Czech “Aryan” Union has demanded, it was reported today from Prague, that the Government order Jews to repay religious grants made by the Czech Government since 1923,a sum totalling more than 22,500,000 kronen. The demand was voiced in connection with inclusion in the “protectorate’s “budget for 1939 a grant of 685,000 kronen for Jewish religious requirements.
The Union, it was reported, has obtained permission from Prague police headquarters to mark all “Aryan” shops with signs indicating, their non-Jewish ownership. The signs feature a letter “A” set in a split Mogen David.
The Bratislava Bar Association has reduced the number of Jewish lawyers admitted to practice in Slovakia from more than 30 to 24, declaring the four per cent numerous clauses was not be computed from the original total of Jewish lawyers but from the number still in practice after deduction of those who had been expelled. The Slovakian police have ordered removal of wires strung in towns inhabited by orthodox Jews which demarcate the limited space in which they are permitted to carry parcels on the Sabbath.
