An increase of 158,000 kronen in the government’s subsidy to the Jewish religion is provided for in the budget for 1933 adopted by Parliament today.
The budget provides for the sum of 1,808,000 kronen to be alloted the Jewish religion as against last year’s budget of 1,650,000 kronen.
The tendency to support separatist Jewish congregations at the expense of the United Jewish communities through disproportionately large subsidies is avoided in the 1933 budget. On the contrary the subventions for separatist groups, such as the extreme orthodox group in Carpatho-Russia, show reductions. The support for the Supreme Council of the Jewish Community is increased.
