The central committee of the Jewish Party of Czecho-Slovakia has elected Engineer Frischer as president in place of Dr. Emil Margulies, who resigned because of his objection to the election pact concluded by the party with the Czech Social Democrats.
The Selbstwehr, organ of the Jewish Party, explains in an editorial, that though the election pact means that Jews who are interested in having a Jewish representation in Parliament will have to vote for the Czech Social Democrats, it is purely a technical ele## toral pact, which does not involve any acceptance of the doctrines of the Czech Social Democrats.
“It is nothing more than a way to obtain Jewish representation of Jewish interests,” the editorial points out.
“We must admit it is not an ideal decision,” it proceeds. “There are many faults, the most important being that we shall not contest the elections under our own name as the Jewish Party. We are sure, however, that our electors are able to distinguish between a technical election pact and a common program.
