D. H. White, editor and publisher of The Jewish Herald-Voice here, has been elected president of the Houston Jewish Community Council, succeeding Martin Nadelman. Principal speaker at the 18th annual meeting of the Council was Gen. W.E. Bruce, president of the University of Houston.
Gen. Bruce asserted that a “natural interdependence” exists between the Council and the University, since they are “bound together in a common goal of community service.” He stressed the need for the integration of such service and urged that Jewish communal leaders become familiar with the problems of the University and stand ready to help.
