Danger still menaces Israel “from beyond the curtain,” President Isaac Ben Zvi declared here tonight at an annual banquet given in his honor by the Israel Journalists Association.
Persecution of Jews in Egypt, he said, represents the rise of a “neo-Nazism and a new Hitlerism.” Referring to the Sinai campaign, he said that though Israel desires peace it was forced to fight. He warned that the danger for Israel is not yet over, either from the North or the South. Berl Coralnick, president of the journalists group and correspondent for the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, presided at the banquet.
Joseph Avidar, Israel’s Ambassador to the Soviet Union, returned to his post in Moscow following a month of consultations here, it was announced tonight.
