David Silbert Elected President of Combined Jewish Appeal in Chicago

David Silbert, an attorney, was elected to a one-year term as president of the Combined Jewish Appeal of Metropolitan Chicago. Also elected were, vice-presidents Howard G. Mesirow and Joseph L. Gidwitz; treasurer Max A. Kop-stein; and secretary, Samuel A. Goldsmith.

The month of April has officially been proclaimed “CJA Month in Chicago,” by Mayor Richard J. Daley. In the proclamation, Mayor Daley, stated “that the citizens of Chicago have long known the far-flung humanitarian work of the Combined Jewish Appeal, and that such endeavors are of tremendous importance to the welfare of our city and have added immeasurably to the advancement and the prestige and the renown which we have achieved.”
