Funeral services were held today for David W. Klau, prominent philanthropist and Jewish communal leader, who died here at the age of 66. Mr. Klau, who was chairman of the executive committee of Montefiore Hospital, had contributed an eight-story, 250-bed wing, known as the Klau pavilion, to the hospital. He was also a vice-chairman of the board of the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion.
Mr. Klau was the principal supporter of the archaeological expeditions in Israel’s Negev carried out by Dr. Nelson Glueck, president of the College-Institute. Last year Mr. Klau was one of three contributors who gave $250,000 each to the Development Fund for American Judaism, the fund-raising arm of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations and the College-Institute. He was also active in the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies and the U. J. A.
